Polish DTH platform Cyfra+ hit by fine over customer contracts
By Chris Dziadul
The Polish DTH platform Cyfra+ has been fined almost PLN3.6 million (€911,000) by the country’s Office of Competition and Consumer Protection (UOKiK) for failing to ensure its customers were kept fully informed about changes to their contracts, including increases in subscription fees.
The move follows complaints by Cyfra+ customers that the UOKiK received last November. In them, they said that Cyfra+ only informed customers of the changes to their contracts in the pages of the proprietary magazine Plus+ rather than writing to them individually. Cyfra+ believes the fine is excessive and will appeal against it.
